| I'm sorry, it sounds like I misunderstood. Are you saying the jar is in CVS? That would surely be inappropriate. I thought we were talking about distributing the jar in installers.

But it is not a full featured GUI. It is only an example that shows
using the Csound API in Java, and as such it is mainly useful to Java
developers reading the sources. There is no point in including the
compiled .jar file in what is intended to be developer CVS sources
after all, when it can be compiled from CSDPlayer.java with standard,
publicly available tools. Even if it would really be a useful GUI (to
users), then the right place for the .jar is in a binary distribution.
It was agreed earlier that large binary files should not be uploaded
to the csound5 CVS module, and so the binaries were removed. I am
worried about such files creeping back again, particularly when their
inclusion is not justified by any real reason, it is merely some people
being untidy or ignorant.
By the way, a feature freeze until the release of Csound 5 was also
asked for so that we can concentrate on the issues remaining to be
solved in order to have a release (completing and freezing the API,
fixing bugs, writing documentation, creating installable packages
for the main platforms, etc.). It is unfortunate that this is ignored,
in case the CSD Player is intended to be more than just an example.
Either way, I think the .jar should be removed.
