I had a look at implementing the same for alsa, but it's somewhat
trickier, as with portmidi you can get a list of devices, and then
activate one by one. I don't know how to do this with alsa, and alsa
has a bad reputation regarding it's documentation, so I didn't spend
any significant time on it.
