| I build with
scons buildCsoundVST=0 generateTags=1 useJack=0 usePortMIDI=1 generateZIP=0 useALSA=1 Word64=1
The useALSA is because until I fixed it yesterday PortAudio failed on
64bit machines. The lack of VST is that I have no idea what i would
do with it. As far as i am aware csound does not needs a VST plugin
whatever that is. Similarly for Jack -- what does it give me that I
need? I want to use the portMIDi code as that is part of the general
design and if it fails i want to fix it (or better have it fixed!). I
do not see a need to generate zip files here.
On the other machine I use
scons buildCsoundVST=0 generateTags=1 useJack=0 usePortMIDI=1 generateZIP=0
with I think a no-install option.
On the University machine I use just "scons" and see what happens, but
that is not real -- I do not use csound to teach compilers.
On the Mac here I cannot remember the build options, but I will look
soon. On the University Mac I used just scons and it failed, but as i
was really lurking in the studio listening to Parsifal I did not get
round to working out why.
To assist with understanding the why, I do not do performance, do not
do MIDI (I think one of my machines has a MIDI interface but nothing
plugged in) and I only use csound and my own C programs when I am ever
lucky enough to get to my music. Use Audacity for audio clean-up and
arecord to transfer from DAT. A very simple set-up really.
