I seem to have messed up the git cs6 repository due to finger/memory
problems.  There are 331 pointless commits...  If anyone know how to
fix I would be grateful

I'm not on the correct machine so I don't have access to git, but [1]
suggests that you have not yet pushed those 331 pointless commits? Or
are those commits part of past history too?
