I'm on WinME, and was trying to run Csound.exe from GBS8 from the command
line with no filename attached.

There is a brief flicker and I'm quickly back to the command line - no
messages appear.

Is this supposed to happen? (At the same time flCsound GBS8 works
flawlessly.)

This is not supposed to happen.  You should see a help message printed
before it exits.  I tried repeating your test on Windows XP.  In the
MSYS command prompt, all is fine, and I see the expected error
message, however, if I start cmd in Windows XP, and invoke the binary,
I too see no output.  

I compiled that binary with the -mconsole flag, and this is supposed
to make the binary work with the cmd program, but something is amiss.
I thought I had this working with an older version of Csound GBS.  In
any event, I'll have to study the problem and get back to you.  Thanks
for the bug report.
