Subject[Cs-dev] Call for manual translators
Hi,

We need you!

Some people have started volunteering for translation work on the
manual, but it is a huge task, so I'm hoping anyone with some time to
spare and desire to learn more about csound and the beautiful world of
docbook xml =), can give a hand.
I've already setup french and portugese manual modules (called manual-fr
and manual-pt), so these languages are ready to go, and I'm now
accepting translated files.

These are some pointers and indications, which should make the process
easier:

1. Keep good communication with other volunteers so there is no
duplication of effort.
2. When you find inaccuracies or any issue with the english manual,
please report it.

Technical issues:
1. You must edit the xml files retaining all tags, and remember to fill
the translation comments at the beginning of the file.
2. refentryinfo tags should not be modified until the manual is in a
more advanced state, since this could break several things.
3. Get a comfortable editor that is xml aware. My recommendation is
kate, but I think this only runs on Linux. Maybe SciTE or eclipse can be
good choices (any other suggestions welcome).
4. Remember that non-letter characters and accented characters cannot be
typed directly, but need to be referenced using this table:
http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/entities/latin1.html

If possible:
1. Try to get the tools to build the manual, to see your output and to
check the file for xml validity. See the file readme.txt
2. Try to set up cvs so you can checkout the manual and have the latest
version. You need a cvs client like:
http://www.wincvs.org/
or if you also want an editor:
http://www.eclipse.org/
and see:
http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=81968
3. If you're really hardcore, you can setup cvs commit facilities in
your system, so you can commit the changes yourself:
http://sourceforge.net/docs/B01/en/cvs_client

Remember to ask when you have any doubt.

Thanks,
Andrés
