Is the portaudio audio module also a dynamic library
on windows/OSX? Is the audio module mechanism 
available for all platforms? Or have these changes only 
happened on Linux? 

I think this model might be more suitable for fixing
the full-duplex problems on CoreAudio and ASIO.
I think a 'native' implementation for these is probably
better than going through portaudio.

It should be available for all platforms that support dynamic
libraries. If the original PortAudio code works on a particular
system, and building plugin opcodes is possible, then the new
audio modules should work as well in theory.
It is possible that problems may occur due to bugs in the code
or in SConstruct, but these should not be difficult to fix.
