Summary: adsynt versus adsynt2

Initial Comment:
- according to the manual adsynt and adsynt2 are interchangeanble
but the example in the manual does not work with adsynt2, only with adsynt

The code for adsynt2 is totally wrong.   I am looking to see if I can
retrieve an earlier version.
Basically the amplitude is not being read internally.
