But to build the basic Csound 5 there is no
need for XCode at all (only to build the Csound5
Mac frontend). I have in fact built Csound5 with
gcc3 and gcc4, so I expect both of them to still
work.

It may be true that it is not _needed_ , however

1.XCode comes with compilers and, given one has installed it, unless
it is compatible with the OS, the compile hangs with the strange
errors I reported last week, whilst compiling the (non mac specific)
csound code.

2. in the manual at http://www.csounds.com/manual/html/
BuildingCsound.html it specifically says

"On OS X, install the latest XCode development system."

David
See what happens when one reads the manuals! :-)

I love the Mac Csound5 Installers. They are awesome. They work.
They are easy for students and beginners. Thanks so much for these.

It would be cool - however, to have an Xcode project of Csound5 for
the Mac.
