If you decide to install 5.07, just remember to rename portaudio_x86.dll
to portaudio.dll in the bin folder and remove fluidOpcodes.dll from the
plugins/plugins64 folder. I can't really comment on the stability of
these solutions because I do most of my work on a Mac, but it seems to ok
(as long as you don't use fluid opcodes).

Another possible solution would be to install 5.07 in a temporary folder
and just selectively copy updated plugin dll's to your 5.06 installation
(backing up older dll's just in case things don't work out). Who knows,
you might get lucky.

If stability is paramount, don't do any of this ;)

I've actually deferred installing 5.07 as i wanted to see how many
 (more)
issues cropped up. there seem to be a few.

As a csound~ user also, are there enough issues needing resolution here
 then
to suggest that a "behind the scenes illiterate" such as myself should
actually defer upgrading at this stage?

Mike, if i can offer you any sort of encouragement/ consolation/ hope
 for
the future I have recently downloaded MinGW-5.1.3, make-3.81.tar, &
MSYS-1.0.10. (aim is to get loris happeneing..)

I have no idea what to do with them yet (someone on this list is very
 kindly
offering me some periodic assistance...) but perhaps it can offer you a
glimmer of hope that you won't remain solely responsible for this
 process
until your 125th birthday?

anyway, i defer to the masters as to whether to put off my upgrade to
 5.07
or not (the new pvs features being my main focus of interest
 really.....)
