I would suggest asking Andres to build the VST host opcodes, since he
would know how to do straight away.

Could Anthony help with this - subset (and maybe advise and include
some of the other missing pieces too - like the loris stuff? or the
fluidsynth stuff?)

Anthony?

Hope so.... and thanks to ALL the Developers for All your incredible
and invaluable work!

SubjectRe: [Cs-dev] The VST Stuff - for Mac Especially?
Dr. B,

I'm very sorry to not have replied sooner to your emails on this subject. I
have been very busy with Christmas and Leopard packaging of Csound so that
many personal emails have gone unanswered recently. Apologies.

I already have a "Loris for Csound" package built that is ready for
distribution but I have not uploaded it anywhere yet because I want to ask
the Loris authors about the licensing. The binary package for this is
actually quite small but because the GPL license of Loris is more
restrictive than Csound's LGPL, hosting this plugin will legally require
hosting ALL source code for every library that I used to build Csound and
the Loris plugin. This amounts to a source code package that is about 69 MB
right now. I assume that is too big for Csounds.com so I am going to try
hosting it on my own site for now and hope that not too many people download
the source code too :)

fluidsynth opcodes will be a standard part of the OS X Leopard Csound
packages. (Is Victor not including it for Tiger?)

Regarding the VST stuff, I would be happy to provide my packaging scripts
and files for the Loris package as an example to anyone who wants to build
VST extras for Csound. I will also answer questions about how to use and
adapt them if I can. However, I'm sorry to have to say that I am not
willing to build or distribute the VST components myself. I think it is too
much of a legal quagmire to get involved with.

Hope that this will be enough in the long run ...

Anthony

Anthony,

Thanks.... This all sounds great.

Your building and hosting the Loris stuff will be great.

And.......

Your helping me/others to get the VST stuff together (especially the
mac stuff) would be great too.

I think we can host that part at cSounds.com.

But, I too will look carefully at the legal stuff to see if there are
any issues that I need to be concerned about.
