One thing that may be worth trying is compiling without
directors. This can be done by replacing the line
'%module(directors="1") csnd' with '%module csnd' in
interfaces/python_interface.i, and also removing these
two lines:

%feature("director") CsoundCallbackWrapper;
%feature("nodirector") Csound;
