Hi Istvan, Thanks for taking the time to reply, On 6/13/06, Istvan Varga wrote: > For example, does the crash occur predictably, or only sometimes ? It seems to do it with all the files I tested (6 sets of 4 files each) but I would almost think it's due to the slowness of the processor on that one - it has a 1GHz PPC processor; anyway I have to really TRY to get it to crash by sending a lot of program change messages. Could it be that since the program change messages trigger a calculation for offset into the soundfile that the resolution between seconds and samples causes this error ? I'm not sure what causes it but I can't always get the files to do it. It seems like it could also be that it hasn't allocated the soundfile and before the system can allocate the file itself into RAM it tries to skip to whatever index but it doesn't know how far to skip (hasn't read number of samples from the header of the audio file) > Do other opcodes also crash, or only diskin2 ? > It seems like only diskin2 it could be any of the UDO's, instrs or outvalue/GUI elements though I'm not sure ... The stack trace was from running Csound5 in a commandline by the way, although I was getting similar results in MacCsound. -David > On Tuesday 13 June 2006 18:12, David Akbari wrote: > > > I'm getting these weird segmentation faults here's the stack trace > > > > Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) > > Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x007db990 > > > > Thread 0 Crashed: > > 0 libsndfile.1.dylib 0x00316238 sf_seek + 0x48 > > (sndfile.c:1141) > > 1 csound 0x00055858 diskin2_read_buffer + > > 0xa0 > > 2 csound 0x00055694 diskin2_get_sample + 0x74 > > 3 csound 0x00054784 diskin2_perf + 0x48c > > 4 csound 0x000055b8 kperf + 0x10c > > 5 csound 0x000036e0 csoundPerform + 0x70 > > 6 csound 0x000020a0 main + 0x20c > > 7 csound 0x00001bc4 _start + 0x188 > > (crt.c:267) > > 8 csound 0x00001a38 start + 0x30 > > > > csound code here http://www.csounds.com/akbari/segfault.txt > > > > any help appreciated ! _______________________________________________ Csound-devel mailing list Csound-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
