Changing tags seems wrong to me. Tags are supposed to mark given points in time. If a given point was never meant to be 5.08, then it's tag shouldn't have been 5.08, but rather 5.08-beta1 or something like that, and then release it as such. It is confusing to see development happen on a release (like the MSVC build) when it was (apparently) already released.
