Well, it was not my idea, but the reasoning behind removing the detailed build instructions from INSTALL was to avoid duplicating documentation in multiple places which need to be maintained separately. By the way, you do not need to build the documentation yourself, nor have to use CVS, unless you want the latest development code. The documentation in various formats (HTML, PDF, etc.), as well as source tarballs are available at the SourceForge download page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=81968 > Whoever puts together these source packages *might* want to think about > that---this is why people shy away from open source projects alot. Of course, the average users should not have to build from sources themselves (I assume you did already try Csound5.01_i686.rpm, and then Csound5.01-i386f.tar.gz or Csound5.01-i386d.tar.gz, and all failed to work, but if not, it may be worth giving a try). That is also one of the reasons why having a full, ready to use binary package included with Linux distributions is a good idea. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
