HI Jean, I tried it out and have a similar setup (Thinkpad T42, FC5, Csound 5.03) and am using ALSA. I tried a number of things but got input using: csound -+msg_color=false -+rtaudio=ALSA -o dac:hw:2,0 -i adc:hw:0,3 -b256 -B1024 -m135 "/work/blue/daily/tempCsd48610.csd" However, I also then went back and tried it using devaudio for both in and out and it worked too! What I believe I did to get audio was to use the Gnome Audio Mixer (from the applet) and went to the capture tab. There I had four sliders: Line-In, CD, Microphone, and Capture. I had Capture muted and microphone on, but with that got no audio. However, if I found that Capture was what was controlling whatever Csound was reading from, so once I unmuted that, I was able to hear input into Csound. The gain on the capture contorlled the input values I received from the microphone, and setting gain and mute on microphone did not affect the values received from Csound. Maybe this is a bug in the Csound Alsa driver? Hope that helps! steven On 8/29/06, Piche Jean wrote: > > > Hello, > > I would be eternally grateful to anyone who can help us debug the Audio-in on Linux. > > > - thinkpad T20 pIII 500Mh > - Fedora core 5 > - Alsa v1.0.11rc2 > - csound 5.03 > - no Portaudio > > Here is the csd: > > > > > -+rtaudio=alsa -idevaudio -odevaudio -W -d -b512 -B512 > > > > > instr 201 > > ain inch 1 > > out ain > > endin > > > > > f1 0 8192 10 1 > f0 6000 ; perform for 100 min > > i201 0 120 > > > > > > 0 amplitude output... so i suspect the signal is not making it into csound. > Other apps can use the audio input successfully.... > > > _______________________ > http://jeanpiche.com > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more?
