As far as forward thinking is concerned, I would suggest thinking of a way to query the host architecture to determine the native size of int instead of using static declarations. The reason I point this out, is because while it is still important to run Csound on DOS machines, we are fast approaching another limit similar to the Y2K bug of the past, but with more impact specifically on Unix/Linux/BSD type systems. [1], [2] When the year 2038 finally arrives, I would hope that Csound can make some reasonably sane inferences about the size of internal variables on its host's architecture. -David http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem http://www.2038bug.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Csound-devel mailing list Csound-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
