So, then the actual "dirent fix", that is, the dirent.h declaration
hacks in various files, is no longer needed and can be removed ?
The option should be renamed to something else, though, as it would
then become a generic backward compatibility option for old development
tools, and no longer have to do anything with dirent.h.
