My results from running 32/64 rendering to disk: sr=44100 ksmps=1 nchnls=2 csound32: Elapsed time at end of performance: real: 483.722s, CPU: 411.420s csound64: Elapsed time at end of performance: real: 481.068s, CPU: 431.810s The difference of 20 seconds is not so bad for this piece I think. I tried rendering to dac with ksmps=16 and noticed some breakups in 64 that aren't there in 32, but I actually may be more prone to use 64 for dac and disk for smaller pieces now that I've done this test. But for the pieces with larger number of instruments, I am still planning to use 32 for dac and 64 for disk as just the little bit helps. BTW: I am on a Thinkpad T42 Laptop with PIII-M 1.7ghz, 1 gig ram. steven On 11/8/05, Steven Yi wrote: > Well, it probably wouldn't be that useful as different parts of the > piece are more dense than others and they already max out my CPU in > realtime with ksmps=1 using 32 bit.
