I recommend installing the .rpm first: if there are no library version issues (unfortunately still common on Linux), you should use that, as it is both the most complete package and you should not need to set environment variables yourself. It also statically links against less commonly used libraries like PortAudio or PortMidi, so you do not have to install those. If you could not get the .rpm to work, try the .tar.gz packages next - while less functionality is included, these were built on an older distribution and thus may work better on older distributions. It is possible that you may need to set the environment variable OPCODEDIR or OPCODEDIR64 if plugins like PortAudio are not found. Building from sources should only be the last resort, unless you actually intend to develop Csound. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
