Hi All, I just thought I'd mention VirtualBox: http://www.virtualbox.org/ I'm experimenting with it now, creating a Fedora 8 virtual machine and probably will create an Ubuntu virtual machine on this Windows XP computer I'm trying out. I figured it might be helpful for Linux to be able to try releases and what not with other distro's. One thing I had thought about in the past was building a very barebones set of Linux distro images for each Csound release for future proofing, so that in the future we could always have a full working virtual machine image to run older versions of Csound. The idea is that should for some reason something change, one could always use one of the virtual machine images to run with your CSD. It'd be a way to guarantee long-term longevity to our artistic work, which is of high interest to me. There are other virtualization software available like qemu, parallels, and vmware, but I tried this one today out of reading that Sun purchased the company behind VirtualBox and reading about it, it seemed easy to use (and it is!).
