The above method works for all drivers that take a device number.
However, those that take a device name (ALSA, JACK, and the "devfile"
MIDI driver) are not so simple; I will try adding device listing to
ALSA and JACK until 5.02 - this would be done when any invalid device
name is encountered - but do not count on it yet.
