Of course Libsndfile is wonderful software, without question. I guess I don't really see the problem though; if you can render on Windows using the output to any linear PCM format (.wav) what's to stop someone from making a little frontend that uses the Csound API and calls other proprietary libraries to convert the linear PCM file. This could be FLAC or Ogg vorbis... but I bet you anything Windows users would be even more excited about encoding to .MP3 or .WMV and for good reason, since they have paid for the licenses to uses these formats.
