I'm using Gentoo with version 18.1-r3 ebuild, but csound5 wants v19.
so I installed:

  http://portaudio.com/archives/pa_snapshot_v19.tar.gz

# ./configure && make && make install

and I was good to go. I just make sure /etc/ld.so.conf had /usr/local/lib before
the lib directory where v18.1-2.1 would be installed for you. Hope this helps.
