Yes, I did today, I've been meaning to post. Audio and MIDI are both now 
working. I had luck with the rpm (which I converted to a .tgz on my Slackware 
10.1 system) of the statically linked binary. The only minor issue was that 
my libFLAC was version 6, not 7 as required by the link in the executable, 
but I did a 'ln -s libFLAC.s0.6 libFLAC.so.7' and that worked...

Nope. It would be unheard of not to have ALSA and be making music on Linux.

FYI, I'm not new to this, I've been using Linux since 1997....;)
