Reading this very interesting series on modular synths I see a nod to Csound in
part II
Very nice to see it mentioned there.

Thanks for the link Victor and yes, it is very nice that the author mentions Csound and his work with Csound at the end. But the author is not correct in his conclusion about the Qu-Bit Nebulae Module - yes, version1 was a little noisy, but I developed a ton of Csound instruments for it, as did many others - I am converting these to the new model now. The Qu-Bit Nebulae V2 is in production and for sale and has been for some time now. It is a major upgrade in power, quality, fidelity - and at the same price - and some Csounders are adding their own code - like Dave Seidel (and me!) - lots of instruments are on their site - more will surely come. - many of my students have them and love them - The Nebulae V2 is now stereo in/out and does real-time stereo audio processing - live sampling and (one could say) live coding - I had 5 of them (just let two go to two of my top students) - I also still have 4 of the version 1 Nebulaes - which I love, especially love running my instruments on them! (It runs Pd too) And As many of you know, the ElectroSmith "Daisy" (cool and like the Bela) is another of their products. It is a prototyping platform with a number of formats and support systems. (I have the Pod, the Field, and the Patch) It uses SoundPipe (mostly derived from Csound) - A pure Csound version of Daisy is coming soon I hope. Note that this article was written in 2017. A lot in the modular world has emerged since then. New cases, new modules, new clones, and DIY, and new prices. i've noticed a trend in the modular world for more digital stuff too. they're past the trend phase, people are realizing it's apples and oranges, where the best digital is *not* analog emulations and the best analog is *not* trying to sound like an analog DX7 and failing miserably. Oh, I didn’t know it was you. I thought the series was very interesting and nicely written. I got into it by reading Part 8 on the state variable filter types, polyvoks and wasp, then worked my way backwards from there. ======================== Prof. Victor Lazzarini Maynooth University Ireland > On 14 Sep 2020, at 15:48, mskala@ansuz.sooke.bc.ca wrote: > > *Warning* > > This email originated from outside of Maynooth University's Mail System. I was happy to learn about your blog, and enjoying reading through it. I'm also starting to lust after a couple of yoru modules... :-) On Mon, Sep 14, 2020 at 10:49 AM <mskala@ansuz.sooke.bc.ca> wrote: On Sat, 12 Sep 2020, Dr. Richard Boulanger wrote: |

To his credit, he warned the reader very early on about the addictive nature of modular synthesis ;) ======================== Prof. Victor Lazzarini Maynooth University Ireland > On 14 Sep 2020, at 15:56, Dave Seidel |

Yes, I am well familiar with that malady. On Mon, Sep 14, 2020 at 10:58 AM Victor Lazzarini <Victor.Lazzarini@mu.ie> wrote: To his credit, he warned the reader very early on about the addictive nature of modular synthesis ;) |
