which frontend do you use? are you running csound from terminal, or from 
cabbage, blue, csoundqt?

if you use CsoundQt: go to Configuration > Run > RT Audio Module.
instead of "Auhal" (or whatever it is called) try "portaudio (blocking)" 
or "portaudio (callback)".
