[Csnd] Csound reliability report

Subject[Csnd] Csound reliability report
Hi,

I just wanted to report on a quite massive use case showing how reliable our beloved Csound is.
Saturday I played a concert for 12 hours straight, processing 11 live inputs through 39 Csound instances via Cabbage VST plugins in Reaper. Handling 108 output audio channels in those Csound instances, mixed/spatialized  to 24 speaker outputs. All this while recording 46 tracks to disk in Reaper. All went very smoothly, no hiccups.
Thanks so much to the developers for making such things possible!

I don't know how you pull these things off! I'm not sure I'd have the guts to try something this audacious :)

Csound rocks for sure...but I'm quite certain the same "no hiccups" situation is very likely also the responsibility of good hardware. I'm thinking this wasn't a Raspberry PI handling the crunching...

May I ask: what _was_ the hardware?

Hi,
thanks for the feedback ;-)

@Aaron, the hardware was not so impressive. A 3 year old stationary PC with Pentium 7-something (4 cores), Windows 10, 16GB RAM. RME UFX soundcard.
It is for sure the Csound and Reaper combination that saves the day :-)

I have been there before with algebraic software.

Hey Brian, that sounds great!

Michael G. is the developer and maintainer of Csound for Android, so I ask Michael to work with you to make this happen.

I hope your fix will include Android down to v6.1, as that is where Csound for Android begins coverage. My (numerous) used Chromebooks are in this lower version range; they run Csound for Android fine except for the files directory issue.

There remain many used Chromebooks on eBay at very inexpensive prices, and that represent fertile ground for beginning Csounders. These "sort-of" computers obviously accumulated during the Covid epidemic in association with virtual schooling. (Those with touch screens are a particular value.)
